Poleroid Theatre Presents the World Premiere of

FREE FALL by Vinay Patel

Directed by Bethany Pitts
Designed by Petra Hjortsberg

A dark, funny, and poignant new play from emerging London playwright Vinay Patel.

14th October – 1st November 2014

Pleasance Theatre, Islington

Midnight at the Dartford Crossing; Roland’s settled in for another thrilling night supervising the toll machines; Andrea’s pretty sure she’s come to kill herself. Neither of them wants to be there. Both think the other’s crazy. Still, it’s nice to have company.

Two strangers on a bridge in the dead of night, a game of dominoes, and a value ready meal – HighTide Escalator playwright Vinay Patel’s new play explores humanity, desperation and hope.

Fresh from the success of his debut play TRUE BRITS at Edinburgh Fringe, Free Fall is Vinay Patel’s first piece to be staged in London. Free Fall is directed by multi-award winning Bethany Pitts (Spine at Underbelly/Soho – Fringe First, Herald Angel, Stage Award) and produced by the acclaimed Poleroid Theatre.

Poleroid Theatre works to discover and craft the contemporary image of young emerging artists in the UK and give new talent a platform through the creation of eclectic, fast-paced, immediate theatre.

We are proud to present this production in association with Healthy Living Centre Dartford, a charity promoting healthy lifestyle choices and offering support to the community in Dartford and surrounding areas.

“Beautifully and tightly written with lots of sly humour… Molly Roberts as Andrea is compelling, raw and emotional. Maynard Eziashi as Roland was a perfect combination of empathetic, bluff and dry. Powerful and impressive acting all round.”
Platform 505.

“This play about desperation, and how it can drive people to change, is quite touching and beautifully written… Both Andrea (Molly Roberts) and Roland (Maynard Eziashi) give wonderful performances”
PostScript Journal.

“[Poleroid Theatre] hit the nail on the head with this little gem of a production… beautifully handled… moments of absolute clarity and brilliance.”
